Labels + Attachment = Prison

Today I was speaking with a friend about how attachments that we create out of fear can become our prison. A thought popped into my head and I saw everything with such clarity.

I found something that really helped me understand myself in an article and it stated that certain types of people can fall victim to being stuck in unhealthy relationships and addiction, because of their huge capacity to love unconditionally.

For the last year and a half I have uncovered the truth of who I really am.

I see clearly why I did the things I did and I have absolutely no shame around those issues. I have chosen to learn from them instead of label myself and lock myself into a box with no way out.

We humans have a need to KNOW...everything. What I have learned most in this time of self discovery, being attached to the knowing of why or how something is going to happen will rip one into shreds. I know, I've tried to figure everything out that comes my way, with very little success.

The best thing I can share here is to trust the Universe/God/Source, to continue what it started with each of us in the womb. The miracle of life still astounds most people, what a gift of perfection. Yet when our children are born we decided that we know best and get attached to following human beliefs and standards.

We go off on crazy tangents and lose our way, filling holes with things and behaviors that will never replace what we have strayed from. We have to label everything so we feel comfortable with where we are in our lives and so we get attached to those labels and then we are imprisoned by them.

I learned a while back about owning something, and it clicked for me. Someone I admire greatly said, "Don't own an illness, or it will never leave you" "Don't say, it's MY disease, then it is yours forever, say "the disease" then it can move on when you've learned from it, freely, with no attachment, keeping you in no prison."

Another dear friend of mine said, "Attachment is the reason so many have such great discomfort."

I realize now, those people and things meant to be in our lives are there for a reason. To teach us and support us in our journey of life. The ones who have served their purpose are meant to move on to learn more for themselves. We are then free to do the same for ourselves. The Universe is all loving ALWAYS, and it wants only for us to be happy and whole. It will always provide the perfect person or thing in our path to help us realize our dreams. We just have to trust in that and let go of attachment and be excited for what this loving energy is bringing our way.

So when you find yourself in a place of great pain, fear of losing someone or something, remember you have the Universe's hand on your back and do your best to let go of the attachment, relax, and see what beauty will most definitely show up for you next.

Blessed Be!
